Mulanje Mission Hospital, a partner with MBF in southern, Malawi, is currently cut off from road access by flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Freddy. The unusually intense tropical storm dumped 19 inches of rain in only 12 hours.

The Medical Benevolence Foundation announced the appointment of Dr. Susan Brown, DNP, FNP-BC, RN-BC, CPHIMS to lead the Center for Global Nursing Development. Dr. Brown will lead the Center’s initiatives to transform nursing education and practice in lower-resourced countries.

Dr. Magayu’s background in medicine and ministry uniquely equips her to lead and grow MBF’s Spiritual Ministry initiative – one of MBF’s key strategic focus areas. The initiative helps mission hospitals, nursing schools and clinics integrate faith and medical care.

The Clive Irvine College of Nursing in Chogoria, Kenya, dedicated a new 1,050 square meter student dormitory on Friday, 11th February. The accommodation block is part of Chogoria Hospital’s multi-phase master plan to upgrade and expand the College from 200 to 500 students.

The Medical Benevolence Foundation announced the appointment of Abed Milelu to the position of Africa Regional Director. Abed will be responsible for strategy and operations in the Africa Region, where MBF partners with local medical ministries comprising 80+ medical facilities and nursing schools.

Monday morning after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Haiti on Saturday, a team from Hôpital Sainte Croix (HSC) was on the way with supplies and equipment to the hardest hit areas. Soon, nursing students from FSIL nursing school were joining the mobile clinic team and together they set out to Les Cayes, near the earthquake’s epicenter.

A long-awaited groundbreaking in Kenya signals the start of a new nursing dormitory at the Clive Irvine College of Nursing in Chogoria. As a department of PCEA Chogoria Hospital, the nursing school is accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya and currently enrolls 184 students.
The Mobilizing Medical Missions (M3) Conference is a two-day global health missions conference designed to bring together doctors, nurses, dentists, other healthcare professionals and medical students, as well as non-medical professionals and students, who have a desire to use their skills to meet pressing global health and related community needs.
Missio Nexus is a Mission Leader’s Conference held each year in late September. This year the theme of the conference is “Counting the Cost” highlighting suffering, loss, bold witness, and sacrifice as we share the love of Christ with others. Hope to see you there.

Mphunzi Health Center

If the patients can’t come to them, the outreach workers at Mphunzi Health Center travel the community on bikes. The Center serves approximately 25,000 and averages about 40 deliveries per month. Small solar panels provide electricity for the Center.

Malingunde Health Center
For this rural community, the Malingunde Health Center not only provides medical care and helps deliver over 106 babies each month, but it is also part of a mission station founded in the 1930’s that includes a primary school and a school for the blind.
Chinthembwe Health Center
Chinthembwe Health Center cares for over 19,000 people outside the catchment area of Nkhoma Mission Hospital. There is a maternity ward at the Health Center and patients can receive primary care, maternity care and neonatal care.
Mvera Health Center

Mvera Health Center, in partnership with the Nkhoma Synod cares for over 19,000 people outside the catchment area of Nkhoma Mission Hospital. They have primary care and maternity services and serve a community of almost 20,000 people.

Chiwe Health Center

Started in 1995, the Chiwe Health Center is faced with daily challenges as they serve 18,000 residents in the surrounding area. Although the clinic gets water from a nearby well and runs solely on solar power, they serve 400-500 patients per month.
